Westminster Abbey
Westminster Abbey is where we have crowned monarchs for a thousand years. It's so old that we don't know how old it is, but it dates back to at least 959 CE. It's where monarchs start their journey: it's also where many of them end it. There are 18 monarchs buried inside, as well as famous figures from the whole tapestry of British history. There are scientists like Charles Darwin, Isaac Newton and Stephen Hawking; and writers like Geoffrey Chaucer, Charles Dickens and Rudyard Kipling. It's so beautiful that it's been called a "wonder of the world", and there are so many famous people buried there that artist William Morris called it a "National Valhalla".
